WHY EFT?
This month I was asked many times why EFT is so powerful and can shift negative situations, either physical or emotional, so quickly and effectively. Beside the answer that is commonly known that EFT re-aligns the disrupted meridian system, I found a deeper reason that it works the way it works.
All of us have experienced at some time in our lives the disabling emotions of self loathing and the "stop in your tracks" limiting, self defeating belief systems. Deep inside we know that we do not live up to our deepest inner potential and Truth. We, by default, do not like to look at these feelings because they are so incredible painful, and instead we tend to project our frustration on the people and the world around us. And what is our deepest inner potential and Truth? LOVE- unconditional Love. And the most powerful aspect of Love is that it always comes back for it self. Whatever we have disowned in ourselves, either consciously or unconsciously wants to come back to the Truth of who we are: Love. This deeper Truth inside us keeps on calling us home to ourselves. It is this relentless little, still voice that keeps nudging us to forgive ourselves and the world. EFT, very gently turns us inside to that little voice and brings us to that space of unconditional Love, acceptance and regard for ourselves and the situation we find ourselves in.
The EFT set-up phrase: "I deeply and completely love and accept my self and all my feelings around this issue" may for many of us be the very first time we look at our selves in a non-judgmental way. It is interesting to notice how hard it is for most of us to even utter these words and really mean it. I have found that especially women have a really hard time with this set-up phrase. We all have come so accustomed to judging ourselves and others that the judgment has totally overtaken the still, small but eternally persistent voice that keeps on saying: "You are Love, You are nothing but Love". For most of us that grew up in this society, self love and self acceptance are difficult feelings to own as we have learned to look at everything from a perspective of productivity, perfectionism, projection and self-preservation.
As little children, unable to screen truth from falsehood, we have believed the messages that were given to us from our parents, teachers, religious leaders and society. And we in turn pass these messages on to our children. Many students of EFT at some point recognize this cycle and are horrified by the realization that they have unwittingly passed on to their children the same things as their parents did to them, even though their intentions were coming from a good place; a place of love for their children. The Love and consistency of this still voice that is calling us home to ourselves will not be silenced until we learn to listen to it and give it a voice that is heard by us.
I have had the incredible honor to work with many clients that told me stories about their lives that they found so horrific and had such deep judgment about, that they had never been able to tell anyone about it. With EFT, for the first time in their life, they felt safe enough to look at the situation from a place of Love instead of judgment. They brought this painful experiences back home to the Truth of who they are. Bringing all our disowned parts back to our inner Truth of Love is the most powerful thing, I feel, we can do. In doing so, we will become more accepting of the human frailty and more loving to ourselves and others. No matter how much we dislike parts of ourselves or our world, Love will not rest till it is brought back to the Truth. If we refuse to listen to the still voice that nudges us constantly in this direction of Love, we become confused, lonely, dis-eased, and ultimately we make ourselves sick. The famous Sufi poet Rumi said once: "Beyond right doing and wrong doing there is a field, I meet you there!" That field is Love, and lets all meet there with all our shadows and perceived problems to see our Truth, experience our brilliance and access our creativity. The best we can do for our self and our planet is to raise our own consciousness. In doing so we benefit the "field" of consciousness as a whole. EFT is a very gentle tool that can help us do just that.

Important note: While EFT has produced remarkable clinical results, it must still be considered to be in the experimental stage and thus practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of it. Further, Gary Craig is not a licensed health professional and offers EFT as an ordained minister and as a personal performance coach. Please consult qualified health practitioners regarding your use of EFT.
